We are looking for a mentally sharp person that can keep up with a dog like Archer
Archer is a real dog that needs a real person that's advanced and mentally sharp and physically fit
Archer is not your average whimpy dog that wants a leader
(not some loud ego guy that has no clue what leadership means)
otherwise he will outsmart you
someone with good reflexes to match his
one big happy boy that is looking for that one on one bond and companionship
from his person a real side kick and protector
a big beautiful boy that knows his basic commands along with hand commands
and many words but unless he respects you as he leader
he won't listen to much if any
if you are a great calm leader he will listen very well
though he will test you sometimes just to make sure you have not weakened:)
he is leash trained with face halti which he hates but oh well
he will walk great on it
it's rare that he tries to rub it off on the ground and never got it off
a great traveler, of course fully house trained and can hold it for a long time if need be
not scared of rain or snow he will walk no matter what weather
and will always use the baby pool to cool off and drink
unless it has ice in it being frozen
Adult home as a fun companion is what we are looking for
meaning no kids
If you are a Hermit that's ok to a certain point looking for a home body like Archer is
not into socializing much but into nature and real stuff
Archer is not a fancy dog he doesn't care and will get dirty
not looking for a fancy home but a real home and someone that has the finances to take care of a dog like Archer for the next 10-15 years
besides vet costs quality food
quality toys and a quality life
Not tons of daily visitors the fewer the better in the home
He's not used to having people over nor was raised as a social butterfly
he has never shown aggression towards anyone but being overly excited to a inexperienced person it could look that way
When people come over he's in his crate for now at the foster but there are no visitors there ever
Archer is 15 months old
most likely 100 healthy pounds by now
25 inches tall
a big and handsome boy
not your average dog that's forsure
he has a huge personality
and spirit
that requires just the right match so both parties can be happy and bond together
Archer has learned many things since in Foster he became a awesome dog
Still some puppy in him at times and full of fun and life but with a good leader a well behaved dog.
He knows many commands in hand signal too and responds to a whistle
he also comes running if you turn on the truck/car
he has a certain word for come that works great
Archer will test you often to ensure you are truly an alpha leader and not a push over he will respect your calm mental strength of leadership
Archer lives with many other larger dogs off each gender but most are older or disabled dogs so not in a position to play that much and when he is allowed too it's always on a leash so we can control the play
I don't think he knows that he's 100 pounds
He has never ever shown any aggression towards them and does play with a 70 pound 3 legged female staffie that can hold her own, she's the boss over him, he does play well with her and can be gentle even lays down at times to make it easier on her
We do not want him living with another dog because he has never learned how to properly greet a strange dog so he's very over excited and to most folks that are not experienced can look aggressive there's no time to do it all as we are very busy to take on yet another task
we are not making any execptions
only pet in home
If it is of most importance that you have a dog that meets other dogs then you will need to stick lots of time into training him along with a experienced trainer to accomplish that
but we prefer a mountain home as only pet as your 24/7 companion and no need to go though meeting other dogs unless you have close by neighbors with off leash dogs
Archer has never had any bad experiences with dogs just doesn't know how to behave calm to actually greet them
We prefer someone that hikes on their own very large fenced acerage instead of community trails for that reason
too much distraction seeing other dogs makes he very over excited
not the best experience
Archer is super when one on one without distractions
He will obey commands etc as long as he's on the leash
and once bonded he will do the same most of the time when off leash
You will need tons of patience for the first month or so while still settling in
This is not a dog to rough house with or be hyper with
he needs a calm but active person that is truly looking for a close companion and not just a dog
Someone who's mentally as sharp as Archer
Archer now brings the toy back and you can throw it and exchange with another
he LOVES the squeaky toys rubber toys made by Kong and he plays with plush toys and does not tear them up
LOVES to tear up large cardboard boxes
We are strict for him to follow rules commands every single time
we enforce what we say
someone lazy would not be suitable for him
Archer loves to be loved on but is not a needy cuddler nor needs a hugger
Loves his belly scratched and told he's a good boy when he is
He's not for high pitched hyper voices nor baby talk
He does not need to be smothered with love but equal respect and companion ship
Archer was a begger at his first home as a pup
then at his foster home that became King
which did not do him well
We taught him to become a dog still working on it and his new person will want to continue
he's a good boy now that knows he must listen and respect his leader
which before the training he knew little about
Archer has will power easily controlled by your gentle but stem leader ship
and yummy treats at times but not always
he mainly gets praise over treats
Not a dog for the weak minded we are looking for a similar person and environment he's in right now but with lots more time then Foster can give him
Someone who will work their own life around their dog to ensure everyone is happy
Someone that's not a wanna be but knows what a real bond with a dog means
Working out any issues that may or may not arrive
As dogs are not throw away items or the shoe doesn't fit return item
If you are lucky enough to adopt Archer that means with our 17 year experience of matching dog and human you are the best match and vise versa
It's no different when one is looking for there human partner
We are looking for THE match
And will have tons more questions besides the app and expect the same from you after you're approved
We are looking to have him in a home where the adopter will want update us
Someone not uptight but down to earth someone physically and mentally healthy
We are in no rush to get him out we want the right home for this handsome hunk
Must be a stable home owner with large acreage or large yard within a Forrest etc large enough where a tall 100 pound dog can stretch his legs and run around in
Not as a yard dog but to follow you around doing outside chores play etc
You must want a vocal talking dog with a big bark the hound bark
which is natural to him
the more excited and happy the more he has to say
mainly greeting, playtime or if he wants something as well as any strange sounds when he's outside
adoption fee, references, fenced yard a must, pics of home inside and out, someone home during the day
