Up for sale is a pair of 7'6" white skis that were used by our 10th Mountain Division in Italy during World War II. On the bottom they say S.L. Allen & Co. Philla, PA (this company built the Flexible Flyer sled!). Also stamped under that is "U.S.A.", and "B.Q.M.D 30". The steel edges have "Flexible Flyer" stamped on them.
On top of the ski, about where the bindings would go (no bindings on these) are the markings "U.S." 5121, 7 6, as in 7'6", then 3-43, the date skis were put into service (see pic).
They do have the small holes in the tips to connect skin straps to the bottom of the skis so they could "walk" up slight hills.
Although the tops (white paint) are dulled and dirty from storage over the last decades, the skis themselves, the bottoms and edges, show very little wear.
I also have white (much cracked/missing paint though) steel poles with large baskets and leather grips/straps that were manufactured by the Union Hardware Company. "Union Class B" is also stamped into the straps (see pic).
