Antique Victorian Dome Top Steamer Trunk from the 1800's - made of wood covered with plain and stamped tin in a Morning Glory pattern. The construction is sturdy.
Trunk measures about 1'- 7" tall x 2'-4" wide x 1'-4" deep.
This trunk is a good candidate for restoration or you can use it as is. I have owned this trunk for over 30 years and used it as is to store curtains or for seasonal clothing storage. It also makes a nice decorative accent on its own.
There are no inserts. The flap to the lid compartment is missing as shown in the pictures. The trunk does not appear to have any rust issues although the color may appear rusty in some pictures.
The leather handles are gone on both sides, but the end caps are still in place on both sides of the trunk, so the handles could be replaced if desired. See picture.
The slat spanning the bottom center of the trunk is deteriorated and can be replaced if desired. As the pictures show, the trunk will not be air-tight on the bottom unless the slat is replaced. See picture.
There are four small metal rollers in the corners on the bottom of the trunk.
There is no lock and key available for the trunk.
I am located in Westminster, near Random House Publishing on Route 27 going toward Hampstead.
If the ad is still posted, that means the trunk is still available. I will take the ad down when it is sold.
