This is an antique (circa late 1800s - early 1900s) Steamer | Brides Chest | Storage Trunk. This is a large trunk with ample storage space, while also serving as a wonderful dcor piece. The chest is constructed of wood and overlaid with a pressed tin (color: silver) featuring a Victorian filigree pattern; and complemented by decorative tin embellishments, panels and edge/ corner caps (color: black) and brass hardware / joints. The trunk also has Oak exterior straps which strengthen and reinforce the truck and is topped off with an attractive rounded camel-back trunk lid. The chest has a functioning center lock made by the Eagle Lock Co. (Terryville, CT), but NO key, and has two side latches for securing the lid.
This chest is in great functional condition but does have a few condition issues. This includes some surface scratches; minor rust on bottom, one leather side strap is missing and aged wood patina (see photos). Considering its age, in excellent overall condition.
