This primitive egg crate was made in the 1920?s by the Metal Products Company Manufacturers located in Fredricksburg, Virginia. It was used to mail/ship fertile eggs between the hatchery and the farmers who lived long distances away. The crate is made of metal/galvanized steel, holds four (4) dozen eggs (48 eggs), has 48 metal and cardboard holders for each individual egg, and has dividers made of cardboard to keep the eggs safe and separated. Original tissues and card with shipper and person shipped to, card also has directions on how to pack eggs All internal pieces are original and are in great condition. The crate is in great condition! The measurements are: 13.25 inches tall, 9.5 inches wide, and 6 inches tall.
