Early miniature painted blanket chest measuring in total - 22" long x 11" tall x 12.5" wide. The paint is heavily worn but the lid and base are green and edge trimmed in mustard yellow paint. There are rose head and square nails visible in spots. The top is one thick plank and the corners of the chest were dovetailed. There is a lock however it does not have a key. The keepsake inner box has its lid, and this although miniature is detailed such as you might see on a full size blanket chest. It is incredibly heavy for its size and solid. At some point it appears years ago the hinges were changed out, and if you view the bottom, you will see a crack, which if not original sometime early on had a butterfly joint added for strength. Really an amazing piece. Please see photos of all sides and closeups of wear and construction. Thanks for looking!
