This gorgeous piece is probably from the 1940's and was used to serve cigarettes following formal suppers. It is trimmed in exactly what resembles gold leaf and is in perfect condition from exactly what I can see. The green leaf on the circular tray serves as a handle and there are small tubules which would hold the cigarettes as the tray was passed around. There are recesses around the tray which served to rest a cigarette on and it operated as an ashtray. The finish is in exceptional condition without any fractures or crazing. It measures approximately 6" throughout and about 2-1/2" tall at its acme. The bottom is not marked, but I believe it is mid-century Japanese Ardalt porcelain.
