Large and tall antique Italian provincial chest of drawers with marble top and brass accents dating back to C.1850.
This fantastic piece is made from solid pine veneered with a beautiful crotched rosewood.
There are 6 drawers to the front with brass handles and escutcheons which are not original but suit the piece well. Each drawer has a lock but no key and there is a bail missing from the left bottom drawer handle.
The custom shaped white marble top is original and is in remarkable condition for its age with no major damage, breaks or repairs.
Simple brass leaves adorn the angled front corners and the whole thing sits on shaped bracket feet adding a touch of class and elegance.
As you can imagine, this piece does have its flaws which is only to be expected in a piece of furniture this old. There is significant wear to the legs and minor wear throughout. Splitting has occurred to the sides and there is some veneer loss and repairs. I have tried to show as much of this as possible in the pictures and as you can see it only adds to its character and charm.
This great piece of Italian provincial antique furniture has developed a wonderful aged patina all over and is in solid, sturdy condition.
