　　The hay rake was used for piling hay that would be carried from the field. The hay rake would be pulled by a tractor or horses. A person would sit on the seat and raise the handle when the rake was full of hay.

　　Usually rows of hay were made in order to make picking up the hay with a pitchfork easier for loading into a wagon.
