A fabulous, rare antique free standing Victorian era mission style whale bone forged wrought iron fireplace cradle with grate & footed andirons grate holders from the late 19th Century (1). This is also known as a fireplace basket insert; Coal Box; Wood Log Holder insert; and fireplace basket. This bold elegant fireplace cradle grate incredibly well preserved for its age and purpose, in excellent useable condition for use in a fireplace, or as a dcor item that would coordinate perfectly with many fireplace styles.

　　Impressed on the backside of the grate: "royal and 195 18". 195 18 on the base and the back of the front and insert has been painted with high heat stove paint, maintaining its original antique character.
