Hello and welcome to my auction. Up for auction is an antique full size violin that I have just had a professional violin repairman/luthier evaluate verbally. I am a woodwind player myself, so sought out professional assistance with this stringed instrument. It is full size, with a rectangular paper label, black fountain pen type ink, that reads “D. Alexander, Liverpool,1896.” I’ve done my best to photo the label, though a bit difficult. The luthier that I consulted has confirmed that it is indeed of English make and the date on the label is consistent with the date of its creation. Spruce top, maple back and likely a boxwood chin rest. Bridge replaced and name on that reads Tony Johnson. It comes with a hard case. It will need some repair to bring it up to its full potential, inclusive of a crack beneath the fretboard, but that will be left to the new owner. However, all the strings are intact and the luthier did play it in his shop. It sounded good to my ears, the luthiers said its bottom was somewhat off. Thus being sold as is. I understand how important musical instruments are and have had many of my woodwinds restored so I care that this violin gets into the hands of someone that will appreciate it for its age and beauty and perhaps love it back to its musical life. Reasonable offers considered. Pictures tell the story but please reach out if you have any specific questions and I will do my best to answer. story. Shipping will be $30. Please ask all questions prior to your bid, as this is a final sale. Thank you.
