Antique English oak roll top desk with flat tambour roll top and paneled sides and back.
This beautiful desk bears the makers mark on the lock plate of Angus, London, who made quality furniture in London, England during the turn of the 20th century.
Under the roll top you will find a writing desk with small cubbies and drawers. The ink stains on the writing top indicate this desk was once well used and who knows what stories lay behind them.
There are 4 drawers on the left side of the knee hole and it looks like there are 4 drawers to the right side, however there are only 3 drawers as the bottom drawer has a dummy front and is actually one deep drawer for holding files.
There is rustic wear throughout, and a split in one of the back panels. The locking plate on the writing top is also missing. All of this is shown in the pictures and as you can see it only adds to its character and charm.
This old English country desk has developed a wonderful aged patina which only time can create. The top and drawers are all in working condition and over all it is in solid, sturdy condition with age appropriate flaws.
Dimensions: width 42", depth 27", total height 39 1/2".
