Sold is an antique child's Morris recliner chair made from dark tainted oak. The Morris recliner chair was produced by different companies throughout 1 and was developed by William Morris. This chair was utilized by my father as a youngster and he is 90 years old. It is possible that the chair was produced by the Larkin Soap Company in Buffalo, NY as that is where my daddy was born and spent his early years. The design resembles Larkin's "Chatauqua" recliner. The chair is 18.5" high from floor to the arms, 19" deep and 17.5" large. It has the original surface. The cushions have actually been recuperated and it is unknown if they are initial. The Morris recliner chair was created during the arts and craft period, this chair absolutely has a Victorian impact. There are 5 turned spindles on a ladder and each side back that folds flat when the cushions are eliminated. The ladder back has 5 (5) rungs and can recline in 3 positions. The back is adjusted and held in place by a bronze or brass rod with turned oak pointers, among which is missing. The rod is heavy and original. The back connects to the seat with initial bronze or brass eye screws. On both sides of the seat into which the screws attach, the wood has worn from the back being lifted and closed and one side needs repair service. The two front legs have metal feet that hold wooden wheels. One of the wooden wheels is missing. Only minor repair works are required to restore this charming piece.
