Complete set (25+3 Vols) of the 1895 9th "Scholar's" Edition of Encyclopedia Britannica. This set consists of 25 volumes with a 3 Vol. set of American Revisions and Additions dated 1894. Set is in extremely good condition with exceptions to a couple of volumes where there is relatively minor damage to the binding/spine , otherwise the set is clean and tight thru out all the volumes. This edition, the 9th (printed from 1875 to 1901) is considered the most scholarly of the 15 different editions that have been produced since the first edition was printed in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1768, and so is commonly referred to as " The Scholar's Edition" and is the most sought after of all the editions. This edition recently has been selling in the $1200+ range since it was announced earlier last year that Encyclopedia Britannica will no longer publish printed sets of their encyclopedia.
