Anastasia's story
Anastasia is a very sweet cat! She did well for her exam and tolerated all handling. Even though she was nervous about her new surroundings, she enjoyed being pet! She is talkative and very lovable!
Anastasia came into our facility because she was peeing on the children's stuff in the previous home. When Anastasia was first adopted into this home as a kitten, she adjusted very well to the older child in the home, the large breed dog and the two adults. After about a year, her owners welcomed a new baby into the home and Anastasia began peeing on the baby's stuff because she was very stressed out. She did develop a UTI but it was treated. Two years later, her owner's had another baby. Since then, Anastasia began peeing on the children's stuff more frequently. The owners took her to the vet again but that vet determined Anastasia's misuse of the litterbox was related to the stress from the two new children in the home.
In order to curb this behavior, we have placed Anastasia on a C/D diet to prevent the formation of crystals in the urine which can lead to UTI. Anastasia has a waiver in her paperwork which describes Cystitis and Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease. She should remain on the C/D diet unless your personal vet says otherwise. It is also recommended that she have another urinalysis done on 01/12/19. We also recommend using cat attract additive or litter to entice her to continue to use her litterbox.
In her previous home, Anastasia did very well with the large breed dog, as well as the older child. She should not be placed into a home with children under 10yrs due to stress in previous home. Anastasia has no history with other cats so please do a slow intro. Recommend ~3 months for adjustment time.
