My story
Amy, age 12, came into our rescue after her beloved owner went into a nursing home. Our rescue specifically assists terminally ill people with finding new families for their pets, including after the owner goes into a nursing home.
Amy is everything that you imagine for a lab - friendly, sweet, quick with a tail wag, and always happy to be pet. She answers the door with a toy in her mouth. She loves her people and would love a home where she can be by her person as much as possible, such as someone who works from home or is retired. Even with her age, she loves to go for a walk around the block and it's great mental stimulation for her as well.
She is housetrained and has lived with other dogs and cats, although she has mostly lived as an only dog.
As expected with her age, she does have arthritis and will require a home ideally without any stairs. The great news is that there is now really good ways to manage arthritis pain in dogs. Along with a joint supplement, Amy is on two prescription medications to help manage her arthritis pain, and an adopter must continue prescription paid medication to provide her the best quality of life. She is like a whole new dog with her pain managed. She especially likes sleeping on her orthopedic bed.
Are you looking to give a sweet old girl a wonderful rest of her life? If so, please email us at [email protected] or fill out an adoption application available here: https://tysonsplacerescue.org/cat-and-dog-adoptions/#adopt
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Amy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
