American Bulldog - Virgil - Large - Young - Male - Dog
Meet Virgil!
Found as a stray in Maricopa county at 4 months of age he has had no problem adjusting to a more comfortable lifestyle. This neutered, 1 year old old, American Bulldog has already faced some big challenges in his young life. Born with a malformed right eye, he had surgery in early November to repair and close the eye socket. Phased by nothing, Virgil has no problem getting around with one eye and finds that it only enhances his already good looks and charming personality.
Always willing to please Virgil has excellent manners with both people and dogs. He is quickly learning useful and appropriate behavior in a home. Virgil is comfortable in a crate for up to 8 hours. He is housebroiken and knows how to use a dog door. Always the perfect gentleman he rides well in a car, walks well on a leash, sits when greeting people, and shares toys with his housemates. Social and outgoing he currently lives with three other dogs and is happy to share couch space for long, comfy naps after playtime.
Virgil will need continuing education to ensure that he grows up to be a respectful adult. Due to his eager nature and limitless appetite he has proven to be a quick learner, so continued training will be a breeze.
If Virgil sounds perfect for your home please consider the lifelong commitment this young pup requires. American Bulldogs are a large, powerful breed requiring early, and continuing, socialization with people and dogs. They can grow to weigh over 100 pounds and need high protein, low grain diets to thrive. Given proper veterinary care, quality food, exercise, and lots of love these dogs can live to be 15 years of age.
