My story
**SPECIAL MEDICAL ADOPTION - Online Applications Only (No Walk-Ins)**Allister 2-year-old Maine Coon cat who was surrendered to the Sacramento SPCA due to some hereditary medical conditions - entropion (inward turning of the eyelid) in both eyes and severe gingivitis.Following his recent neuter, entropion correction surgery, and dental cleaning at the Sacramento SPCA (thanks to The Joe Willie Initiatives), this handsome and outgoing gentleman is now ready for adoption. He is looking for a home who will be able to support his current and future medical needs.Allister has a condition known as hyperplastic feline juvenile gingivitis. This will require frequent (every 3-4 months) dental cleanings under general anesthesia, PLUS oral rinses to keep excess bacteria plaques from forming on his teeth. These cleanings need to be continued by his new family until he is 3 or even 4 years of age, or he will be at risk for a much more severe dental condition.Allister's ideal home would be with someone who has previous experience caring for a medically challenged pet and that can accept the financial responsibility of Allister's current and future medical needs. I have lived with other cats, and may do well with a slow introduction!I have lived with dogs, and may do well with a slow introduction!I have lived with kids, and may do well with a slow introduction!Applications are now closed for Allister.
