Description

Up For Your Consideration Is A Very Nice Alexander French Horn!!!!Playing Bach, Haydn, Mozart or Ravel … YOU NEED THIS HORN! Up for your consideration is an Alexander 107 Bb/F alto descant with an A stopping valve. Horn players in-the-know interested in finding a horn that makes those treacherous high horn licks possible with relative ease basically have 2 choices: a descant horn or triple horn. Triples are very expensive. A great descant though is a wonderful horn as it can also serve as a full-time double horn for many folks, especially if the instrument has a really good Bb side. Finally, no one purchases a brand new descant anymore since there are many choices on the used market. There are numerous 3rd party vendors who sell new and used F extension to replace the A valve slide in order to play the natural harmonics of the low F horn. The horn is sold with its original case (still serviceable) and original Alexander case cover. For many both here in the U.S. and in Europe the Alexander 107 is THE descant of choice. The model is SO popular that Gebr. Alexander STILL manufacturers this model and many other horn builders have copied the design of the 107. This particular horn has only known a professional life and was previously played by a hornist in a well-known U.S. orchestra. It was originally purchased in Europe and brought later to the U.S.. The horn was likely manufactured in the 1950s and is all-original with the exception of an Alexander lefthand folding rest and an Alexander adjustable pinky hook making the grip on this horn completely customizable.. That horn still has outstanding valve action and excellent valve compression. It is mechanical action but is extremely smooth. The horn is unlacquered and has some professionally applied patches but otherwise is in very good condition with no thin metal spots. The original bell on these Alexanders are highly sought after for their resonance and while having the horn just serviced, the prior owner’s horn tech recommended that somewhere down the line it might be great to have the bell cut in order to protect the bell for another generation to come. Please check out my other items for sale for some great deals on musical instruments!
