Akela's story
Akela is a 2/3 year old Terrier mix weighing about 15lbs. Akela came to us from a high kill shelter with a few health problems, that are luckily all 100% treatable. Akela does have a cherry eye that you can see in the corner of her eye. It's a VERY easy fix to get it tacked back into her eye, but the other health issue she has is that she is Heart Worm positive. This is also 100% treatable, it just takes a couple months to complete the treatment, and we want to make sure she is heart worm negative before doing her easy Cherry eye surgery. We will still cover both of these issues through our vet until the treatments are completed, but we are looking to adopt her out before they are over so she can find her forever home and start to truly settle in with her forever family. These issues are also not holding her back at all and we do truly believe she is ready for her forever home!
Here is what Akela's foster has to say about her:
"Akela is an absolute sweetheart who will love her forever family very much. She is very good with other dogs and very eager to please. Sometimes she can be a little timid with new people at first but it never lasts very long. She is about 75% potty trained and with consistency she would probably be 100% potty trained. She plays well with other doggies. She does have a good amount of energy and loves to run and play, but is also completely fine just chillin' when it's time to chill. She is a nutball on a leash since she gets so excited and goofy, but with a little leash training she would be such a great adventure buddy with that typical terrier drive and energy. We love her so much and know there is forever family out there that will love her just as much as we do. She is ready to start making memories with her new forever family!
