Up for sale is my beast of a Z1000. Its hard to say goodbye because I love this bike and its been very good to me, but I have a baby due in less than a week so its daddy-time. I haven't done much in the way of aftermarket upgrades or mods because I think this bike is gorgeous in stock form. I DID, however, add a slip-on Jardine carbon fiber exhaust system which gave it a little more top-end and a more throaty growl. I also added a K&N filter to help make the respiratory system more efficient. This bike has under 11k miles on it so its WELL below the average for the year. I had two brand new Michelin Power Pure tires on the bike, but ran over a screw with the back tire, so I had to drop a Dunlop Roadsmart back on. It still has great tread left though and tracks very predictably when leaned over. The bike has never been laid down or wrecked, and only has minor cosmetic imperfections which are common for the bike's age. I also have the rear seat cowling for when you're riding solo. I just changed the oil and filter, and flushed/replaced the coolant. Given the type of bike it is, and the type of rider that its designed for, its meant to go very fast. It can reach 60 MPH in under three seconds(which is Bugatti Veyron territory), and gets back to zero just as fast with it's meaty brakes if that's how you like to ride. I'm a "mature" rider I guess you could say. I drive like a grandpa and I ride pretty much the same most days. I've gotten the bike pretty low in corners, but I've never dragged the pegs or taken it to the track. I don't believe in street-racing, so I never really flogged the bike the way it was meant to be flogged. Overall, I'd say its been ridden pretty softly. The sad part is that I bought this bike with 1200 mis on it, and of the 9,000 or so I've put on it most of them have been freeway commuting miles. I guess I got caught up in the rat-race. My goal for this sale is to raise enough money that my pregnant wife and I can move into a house that's more family-friendly. I have it priced at $3,200, which is $300 below book value with 30k+ miles. I am open to offers, but please save my time and yours by keeping them reasonable. There isn't much else I can tell you except the Z1000 has a huge following and they are hard to find because its 1 of the most badass hooligan/naked bikes around. I should also mention that insurance companies classify this bike as a sport-touring. Insurance on this bike compared to a GSX-R 600 I almost bought was about 80% cheaper. Funny thing is this is basically a ZX-9R without a fairing. Handles beautifully, accelerates beautifully, stops beautifully. This bike does everything very well, so give it a try. Its only $3,200 ;)Call, text, or email any time.
