I currently have a 2004 Yamaha VStar 650 Custom for sale.
This bike has been a dependable daily commuter for it's previous owner but has developed an oil leak. The front cylinder is leaking from the top of the cylinder around the crank case oil tube. I am not sure if this is the source of the leak because we have Not worked on it. I cleaned the motor , ran the bike, then took a good look at it with one of my mechanics and that is our best guess. The back cylinder is leaking as well but seems to be rather minor . One thing we have seen fairly commonly with these older Yamaha's is the o rings will get hard & brittle and cause leaks that is possable as well, neither cylinder is leaking from the head gasket.
The other thing is that the crankcase oil tube that runs to the top of the front cylinder has been patched and that tells me the line has been removed and may have been left loose thus being the source of the leak, that is just a guess on my part.
Lastly the start button has been relocated from the right handle bar to the right side cover ( don't ask me why ) and works fine.
With all that said the bike starts right up and runs great, it does Not smoke, rattle or clatter. the clutch seems fine and it shifts smooth, the brakes work fine and the tires have good tread on them.
The paint and chrome look real nice and the seat does Not have any tears or rips.
I believe with the oil leak fixed this bike still has pleanty of life in her.
