This is a 4 panel decoupaged room divider most probably from the mid to late 19th Century. This technique was also referred to as 'Japanning' in Britain. 4 double-sided panels in total. They require some repair and restoration and are rare and coveted antiques. I believe them to be of British origin since the theme of both sets appears to include historical events and scenes of British Monarchy including Buckingham Palace. The scenes also show historical people include several scenes of common recreational events such as Horse Riding and Fox Hunting. The leather trimmed panel pairs are joined together by hinges and it appears the pair of dividers had at one time been connected together as one 3 section divider panel.
DIMENSIONS: each panel is 78" TALL x 30" WIDE x approx. 1" DEEP
