Letting another go from my personal collection…This is either a ‘99 or 2000 Redline John Purse Signature Team Edition 20” bike with a 21-3/4” top tube length. This is almost 25 years old and has NOT lived in a museum. The Alex chrome rims have some chrome bubbling- (front primarily-rear is actually quite nice). The Tioga COMP III tires are showing wear from use and just age as the gum walls are pretty weak. The tires hold air, but if being ridden the gum walls are likely to keep degrading. The wheels are otherwise nice and true and the hubs spin nice and smooth. The chrome on the fork is not great-as it looks like the chrome when new wasn’t very good quality. No chemical or mechanical rust removal has been employed-so some chrome polishing effort may make it look a little better, same for the handlebars. The original grips are worn as well. The original brakes pull nice and work well. The 180mm Flight cranks also spun nice and are in great shape and the original KMC chain isn’t rusty. This is a really sharp bike that I’ll let run via auction. Please see the numbers on the bottom bracket and know what you’re buying. The small strips of red on the front forks and BB are just reflective tape. There are some scratches and scuffs on the frame/stickers and the paint will likely polish out if the effort is applied. Again-this is not an NOS bike-but one that was enjoyed and ridden, not raced and it’s wear is consistent. Maybe it’s not an 80’s show bike-but some day it may be equally sought after. Please review the photos and know that it’s a great bike. Photos show condition accurately. Shipping will be a flat $120 to anywhere in the lower 48 charged at the auction and the bike will be partly disassembled if shipped.
