Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SL
Roadster. This was the final year of production for the R107
chassis and represented the pinnacle of its evolution. It's
presented in the attractive color combination of Garnet Red
Metallic with a matching hard top and black canvas convertible top
over Palomino leather interior. Paint and body present to a nice
driver standard consistent with the mileage. Both tops are in good
condition. The original wheels retain their factory finish and are
wearing nearly new Continental tires with 2022 date codes. Glass,
bumpers, and trim also present well and there is no known rust.
The interior is trimmed with palomino leather; there is minor wear
on the center armrest, but otherwise shows as you would expect for
a well-cared-for example. Excellent original steering wheel and
crack-free dash. All gauges, lights and indicators are working as
they should (with no warning lights). The A/C has been upgraded to
R-134a and is blowing cold. An AM/FM/CD stereo has been installed
in the dash.
Under the hood is a 5.6 liter V8 mated to a four-speed automatic
transmission (the late 107s were the best of the breed thanks to
the larger engine, more advanced engine management, improved
transmission and better climate control). Under present ownership
since 2012, this 560SL has undergone considerable recent
maintenance over the last year in preparation for the sale,
including new tires, an alignment, power steering pump and hoses,
valve cover gaskets, new drive belts, all fluids, and the timing
chain, upper chain rails, tensioner and camshaft sprockets all at a
cost exceeding $8,000.
This example is running and driving well, and with the recent major
service should provide years of top-down driving enjoyment. For
