1984 Ferrari 308 quattrovalvole 15,700 Miles -Red/Tan
Books/Records- Fully Serviced
This exceptionally fine original, low mile example is one of the
most recognizable and coveted cars ever produced... it is the 1984
Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole. The "quattrovalvole" part of the
name referred to 4 valves per cylinder giving the car increased
horsepower, higher refinement and overall performance than the
earlier cars. When the Ferrari 308 was introduced in 1975 there was
much fanfare around the car as it was highly regarded as a worthy
successor of the much loved Dino 246 and its styling is still
considered one of the most beautiful cars ever built. According to
Sergio Pininfarina, the inspirations for the styling came from the
Dino Berlinetta Speciale that was exhibited at Paris in 1965. Road
testers and enthusiasts alike hailed the refined performance the
car had to offer. Paul Frere summed it up as he began his 1976 Road
and Track review "Dino 246 fans, cheer up! There is a worthy 2 seat
successor to your favorite car. And it's even better, faster,
quieter and more comfortable". The example offered here was sold
new at Roger Mauro Imports in Lakewood, CO. Documentation indicates
that in 1990 and at 9361 miles, the car made its way to a private
collection in Michigan where it continued to be kept in a complete
climate controlled environment, used sparingly and consistently
looked after. At 11,646 miles, the car had a complete engine out
service. On 10-01-14 a timing belt service and tensioners was done
at Cauley Ferrari at 11,807 Miles and this documentation is on
hand. The most recent completed full service was at mileage of
14,585 ($10,538) also at Cauley Ferrari: Changed oil & filter, air
filter, gear lube, replace accessory belts, timing belts &
tensioner pulleys, clean engine ground strap, replace valve cover
gaskets, cam seals, distributer seals and gaskets, engine & trans
pan gaskets, shift rod seals, check valve clearances, replace oil
return hose, air intake bellows, spark plugs, hoses on LH coolant
pipe, replace dogbone busing on valve RH valve cover, flush brakes,
set tires to 34psi, torque wheels to 100Nm before & after road
test, lube all hinges & latches, charge AC. Today, the car has just
over 15,700 miles and remains outstanding all around mechanically
and cosmetically.
