This is a California-spec Wraith that was fitted with the new Bosch
fuel injection that became standard on the next-generation Silver
Spirit & Silver Spur in 1981. Many Rolls enthusiasts prefer this
earlier body style, making this a very desirable and rare car-last
year of the preferred body style plus modern fuel injection. The
Wraith name designates the more-desirable long wheelbase version
for even greater comfort-analogous to the Silver Spur.
It was sold new at Rolls-Royce of Beverly Hills in early 1981 and
maintained there by the first owner for twenty-six years, going to
the second owner in 2007. We have copies of all the service records
from that owner, who continued to diligently maintain the car for
the next thirteen years. We are representing the Rolls for the
third owner, who bought it in 2020. CarFax does not report on
per-1982 cars, but the copious records appear to accurately track
the mileage to the current 57K. The car was professionally
repainted in its original colors prior to 2007 and the finish still
presents exceptionally well. The car spent most of its life in
Southern California and the underside is clear evidence of that
benign climate.
In recent years it has had a transmission and hydraulic accumulator
service, plus regular oil changes-the most recent was last month.
It runs smoothly and quietly and is a pleasure to drive. In
addition to the fabulous documentation, we have everything the car
came with when first delivered: Original window sticker ($102,440),
both keys, the complete bundle of owner's manuals, front & rear
Mouton sheepskin carpet overlays, complete trunk tool & bulb kits
and all the tire-changing equipment (including the gloves) that all
looks new. For greater visibility, Bosch high-intensity H4
headlamps have been fitted plus LED bulbs in other exterior lamps.
Factory seat track extenders to better accommodate a tall driver
have been added as well. A $3200 cooling system service was just
completed that included a new aluminum radiator.
It would be very difficult to find a better-documented, better
cared-for or better-looking Wraith II than this example, which is
also a terrific value.
If you are considering one of the classic or collectible cars on
our website, be assured that coming for a personal visit to inspect
first-hand the car that has captured your fancy is very welcome. We
practice transparency in all of our descriptions, but believe that
nothing is as convincing as seeing and touching the car yourself.
Plan a few hours, so you can see, touch, feel and drive the car,
and enjoy a tour of our restoration shops to see 'where the magic
happens.' If your schedule is too committed, we also welcome a
knowledgeable agent visiting for you. Please understand that sales
are final, so the time for all due diligence is before you buy. Our
cars are sold AS-IS, since most are on consignment from owners. We
follow FTC guidelines for all sales and certainly want our future
clients leaving more glowing reports among our reviews!
