1980 Honda Gold Wing 52,000 miles About 5 years ago, I had this bike mechanically restored top to bottom by one of the last great Gold Wing mechanics, who was also a contributing writer to Gold Wing magazines and articles for decades. With a couple of exceptions, which I'll list, essentially everything on it was rebuilt; not just the standard carbs/brakes/tires kind of service. The level of detail we're talking about is down to the gear inside the shaft drive being replaced due to inspected wear, under full disassembly. I had digital records of all the repair/rebuild and service, pages and pages, of $5,000+ of work, on my hard drive; it sounds like a line, but the hard drive failed last year, and those were some of the files that couldn't be recovered; needless to say, I run redundant hard drives now. The engine was not rebuilt, he said the compression still tested excellent. The alternator still tested good at that time; it has since failed, and is one reason the bike hasn't been ridden for a while. I believe it's the only reason the bike doesn't run right now. The other reason it's sat for a while is I've moved on to riding dualsports a lot more, and I've realized I'm ready to sell the Gold Wing, though I'll miss the classic looks and very comfortable ride. If you love the old Gold Wings, you'll be hard-pressed to find one that's ever had anywhere near this level of mechanical rebuild and safety. As I said above, it does need the alternator/stator replaced, and so isn't currently running, and it's sat long enough that the carbs will need a quick clean. I have a motorcycle trailer, and would be willing to deliver it within the greater Phoenix area. (currently not available, getting some work done) As pictured, I have engine guards, original tool kit, period-correct low pressure gauge for the air shocks, complete replacement gauge set to replace the cracked one, and a replacement plastic Honda badges for the tank sides
