1980 DUCATI DARMAHThis is an original paint bike with patina throughout. This bike came out of California. The rims were refinished in a very accurate paint match. The seat was recovered and since the section of the vinyl under the rear tail is different material from the factory I chose a different vinyl since I could not find anything near the original which is almost like an elephant skin. The rims were replaced with proper FPS non-mag aluminum rims for safety. Basically the same set-up as the Darmah SS version. Was very hard to find these and not cheap, especially the 5 bolt rotors.New SS brake lines up front and rebuilt master cylinders front and back. Genuine Conti pipes as it should always be!New Sasche electronic ignition replaces the old Bosch unit and is state of the art. When I got the bike it had a Lucas unit that was in need of help. Naturally when all the original Bosch harness was sacrificed I had to do some electrical harness patching that the previous owner "hacked" but now everything seems to work with the exception of the neutral light. The turn signals suddenly stopped flashing but work through the switch so the relay needs replacing. It was new but a cheap Chinese unit which did not last.New tires front a rear. The heads are freshly rebuilt by Grafton in San Rafael CA. However, nothing else was rebuilt. As such, it has oil leaks at the bevel tower tube bases and the bottom of the crankcase. The original lead seal is not there. It smokes on a cold start after sitting but clears up when warm. I have not run a compression test. Inside of tank is clean. New aftermarket petcocks. Carbs work but I did not rebuild them. Rear cylinder carb's tickler works but the front does not seem to overflow no matter how long you hold it down. Battery is good but it could use a higher amperage unit as these starters draw a lot of current. So if its really cold old the battery can get taxed.I bought this to eventually restore and rebuild but wanted some instant gratification last summer and basically hit all of the safety issues ie brakes, tires, etc... but didn't bother to tear it all down....yet. Now I am attacking a 900ss and felt the funds from the sale of this bike could go towards that. This has a 140 MPH speedo - not the cheesy correct 80 MPH unit. So the mileage is essentially unknown. That is why I was eventually going to go through and rebuild at least the top end with new rings etc. However, if you can deal with oil leaks and just want to cruise for awhile before taking on a rebuild you could. However, it is sold as-is. It's old, full of patina but still very pretty to look at. There are some scratches to paint and engine cases but nothing too crazy. I'm sure I am forgetting something and will never purposefully misrepresent anything so please ask questions. I may or may not be able to answer. These are appreciating in value so if you get it at the right price you should have room to put a few more dollars into making it perfect. If you are a purest and need everything perfect down to all nuts and bolts then you should not bid. Most of these old Ducati benefit from what mods have been done. Sold as-is where is. All sales final. Please be a vintage bike enthusiast and not a first timer. Old bikes require dedication. I will assist with meeting you or a shipper and getting it loaded. Clean title.I will hold the bike upwards of 6 weeks while pick up is arranged. Interesting trades or offers are entertained but I am currently on a cash drive. Take a look at current values online and make an educated bid. I take Venmo and PayPal as friends family. I take Zelle or bank wire too. Full payment within a week. Deposit through eBay.On Feb-02-24 at 12:35:19 PST, seller added the following information:Per questions received: No broken fins on engine. Yes they are Koni shocks. Oil leaks like a British bike. About a tablespoon after a ride on my garage floor when hot. Regarding trades, my interest is in large displacement 70's 80's classic bikes. I am looking for a 900GTSmin great original condition to fit a gap in my collection. Ive got a basket case now and don't feel like restoring it since it has not achieved the value yet. The tires are Dunlop. Very few miles on them since installed - not old. Yes I have the key to the tail compartment and it works. The electronic ignition module is under the seat easily accessible and safe from elements. Thanks.
