For Sale a 1974 Norton Commando 850 Roadster with 7,167 miles. I bought this bike from a gentleman who bought the bike from the original owner in 1994, and at that time they both lived in New Jersey. The gentleman I bought the bike from later moved to West Virginia where I acquired the bike. He only put a couple miles on the bike. I know this because the title was a New Jersey title and still in the original owner's name and the mileage on the title was 6,993. The title is now in my name and is a Clean West Virginia title. He then parked the bike in a climate-controlled garage where it stayed for almost 29 years. I do ride the bike on occasion, and it now has 7,167 miles. I have owned and worked on Nortons since 1966 when I bought my first Norton, a 1965 400 Electra that I still have today. I have owned five1975 MK-3 Nortons and now own a 1974 Norton. Of the five MK-3 Nortons I have sold three on Ebay all in excellent condition as this 1974 is.This bike is original except for the handlebars which were on the bike when I bought it. I have the original bars which look like new and very simple to change back if desired. These bars will go with the bike as will the original parts book and the original workshop book both in excellent condition.I installed reproduction mirrors, new crossover header pipes, and the tank and side covers have been repainted to a beautiful deep black. The tires on the bike had been changed and looked new but I changed them out for fresh new Dunlop tires and new tubes. I went completely over this bike and did the following.......... new cross over header pipes, new battery, new tires and tubes, new air filter, changed the motor, transmission, and primary oils, retorqued the head , adjusted the valves, adjusted the clutch, dismantled and cleaned the carbs, checked the brake pads and brake shoes, installed new front brake master cylinder kit, removed front isolastic mount and cleaned and shimmed to specs, adjusted rear isolastic mount and shimmed to specs, installed LED bulbs in speedometer and tachometer, disassembled rear wheel hub and cleaned and greased both bearings, cleaned and greased both front wheel bearings, changed oil in front fork tubes, cleaned and greased both steering head bearings, cleaned and polished to a high gloss all aluminum and chrome parts. Every part on this bike "SHINES". The motor is in excellent condition and carries 175 psi in each cylinder. The bike starts very well, transmission shifts very well, and the clutch operates very well. I did plug the auto chain oiler but did it so it could be changed back easily if desired. Everything on this bike works and works very well. This is a beautiful bike with very low milage and has matching numbers as shown in the pictures above.
