1974 Jose Ramirez 1a Classical Acoustic Guitar w/ Case

Description

Here is a unique opportunity for anyone who has considered purchasing a Ramirez 1a.    Up for sale is a 1974 1a in very good condition.   This guitar was handmade by Julian Moraga in the Ramirez workshop.   He was one of the luthiers in the Ramizez shop in the 1970s.  This is authenticated by the stamp with the numeral 19 located on the inside of the guitar (see photos).  Here are some notes on the sound of the guitar:This guitar has the classic Ramirez sound.... very bold basses and very very sweet trebles.   If you play the E string on the 12th fret, the guitar rings like a bell.   Overall the guitar has excellent resonance.  I have owned 3 Ramirez 1a guitars, and this one plays just as well as the other two.The thing to watch out for with Ramirez guitars is the B String and the G string.   It the G string is "flat" sounding, or if the B string drowns out the E string, then you will have problems.   That is NOT the case here.  If you play this guitar with a light touch (like Christopher Parkening), then the sound is very rich and sweet.  Here are the best attributes of the guitar:The headstock is near-mint.   The fretboard is near-mintThe front of the guitar is in excellent shape, outside of a few string dings which I will mention later in this listing. The back of the guitar is in excellent shape, with the exception of some "crazing" on the cellulose finish (see photos)The sides of the guitar are near mint. The neck is near-mint.NOTE:  THERE ARE NO CRACKS ANYWHERE ON THE GUITAR.Here is the known history of the guitar.   I bought it from a music store in Tupelo, Mississippi. The owner of that store had purchased in in a trade-in from Carter Vintage Guitars about 6 years ago for $3,500 (See receipt in photoThis is a very well known guitar store in Nashville.   I am not sure who they bought the guitar from. There are a few items about the guitar which keep it from being a "collectible" guitar.1.  It was one of the Ramirez guitars that were marketed by Sherry Bruner back in the 1970's.   Somewhere along the way, someone decided to remove the Sherry Bruner label off the guitar (I don't blame them for wanting to), and in taking off the Sherry Bruner label off the guitar, it removed the 1a designation from the original Ramirez label.2.  There are 3 string dings that impact the pristine look of the guitar.3.  Someone along the way decided to use the guitar for stand-up gigs, and installed some guitar-strap posts on the guitar (see photos).  These do not effect the sound of the guitar at all, but they take away from the looks of it. 4.  There is a small amount of crazing on the finish on the back.If those 4 items did not exist, this would be your typical $5,500 Ramirez 1a, which was built in the height of the Ramirez era. For the reasons listed above, I am listing the guitar at a very sizable discount from what a near-mint 1a would sell for.   So if you are a collector looking for a perfect guitar, this is not your choice.   But if you are looking for a perfect-sounding Ramirez 1a for half of the price of a show-piece, then this is the perfect choice. By the way, the guitar has upgraded tuners, but i still have the originals Fustero tuners, and they are included with the guitar. Please let me know if you have any questions.   Thanks
