1973 Porsche 911T VIN# 98 non-sunroof coupe very original un-restored excellent condition matching numbers engine Sepia Brown CIS injection produced in 03/73 and commonly referred to as a 1973.5 as only the 911T cars produced from Jan '73 through July '73 had the CIS injection and other updates but still enjoyed the lighter weight and classic look of the "Long Hood & Small bumpers". These are the most desirable of the early 911's because of the relatively torquey new 2.4L flat-six engine and the new 915 gearbox both having been introduced in '72 and now improved with addition of CIS injection replacing the T model's Solex carburetors. The E and S models cars still used the older "MFI" injection which was a little racier but not very efficient or well behaved. The CIS injection system is very smooth and well mannered and this 911T will pull 5th gear easily from 1500 rpm without a hiccup. A recent leak down test showed less than 4% leak down on all six cylinders which is exceptional by anyone's standards and supports the strong running performance this 911T delivers. Interestingly only the 1973.5 CIS system has the injector in the cylinder head as all subsequent models ('74-on) moved the injector to the intake manifold. These 1973.5 911T's were very unique and only produced for the last six months of the model year before the new "74 model cars came out with the big bumpers. It was the swan song of the early series 911's. This particular car was delivered August 10 1973 by Williams Porsche -Audi in Lansing Michigan to Keith Muntyan of East Lansing. It received the 1000 mile service just 6 days later at 653 miles. The car's provenance includes the original maintenance booklet containing this information as well as stamps for the 10000 mile service 60000 mile service and 100000 mile service. There are also many individual service records dating from to 1991 - 2002 where the car was located in San Rafael and San Francisco California. Recent mechanical attention in the last 12 months include rebuilt shifter (front and rear) rebuilt rear brake calipers completely restored oil tank new oil cooler seals and gaskets all new oil lines new OEM airbox pop-off valve and completely restored intake system. All parts used were original OEM Porsche parts or NOS Porsche parts where possible. Now running Brad Penn oil with a new Porsche oil cooler oil filter and air filter. The utmost care and attention to detail were observed in the mechanical work resulting in a clean leak free engine that starts and runs beautifully. The engine compartment is sanitary. The clutch and gearbox are smooth and solid with records indicating a complete transmission and differential rebuild in 1992. The points ignition has been upgraded with electronic unit inside distributor. The brakes are firm and reassuring with new pads and fluid. All the Fuchs wheels (5) are correct and in excellent original condition with new "205/60-15" Michelin tires (4). This car has been fitted with Koni Sport gas shocks has been lowered slightly aligned and corner weighted for direct feel and responsive handling. All gauges and lights work correctly with the exception of the clock. The interior is original as is much of the exterior and shows very well. This car gets looks and nods of approval everywhere it's driven. It really is a testament to the quality of automobile Porsche was producing in the early 70's. Service records since 2008 show new muffler new windshield rebuilt fuel pump fuel tank removed cleaned and relined replaced fuel filter and lines valve adjustment rebuilt distributor new spark plugs rebuilt alternator new fan belt rubber engine compartment seal and more. Car has only travelled 4k miles since this work was completed. I have driven many 911's over the years and I can tell you this car drives and handles exceptionally well. It is very well sorted and can be driven and enjoyed straight away. No fettling needed. However this is an original un-restored rust free early 911 that hasn't undergone a cosmetic restoration. I am reluctant to try improving the cosmetics which are quite good because as they say "It's only original once". You decide.
