More Info: I Spoke to AOPA and found a person at AOPA who worked at Mooney on this airplane at the time of the airplane manufactured. His letter is attached. Dear Peter, Mooney purchased the Alon Aercoupe in the late 60s to expand their line of models. The intent was to add an airplane that could be used for training. This was accomplished by changing the empennage to a conventional design (with the Mooney appearance) and doing away with the Aercoupe two control system. The original Aercoup had no rudder pedals and ailerons and rudder were both operated by the control wheel. Other than these changes the M10 is the same rugged and dependable Aercoupe that began in 1946. Having done most of the flight test work on the M10 I can say that I know of no problems with the aircraft if properly maintained.
