Has Good Tires with Back Being Like New 10.00 R-20. Has Hale Pump System that seems all Intact with Gauges and set up for numerous hand lines. Bed is solid without any Rust or Dents. I drove truck about 50 miles and it runs 55 down highway and brakes fantastic, Steers Straight and tight. QUICK HISTORY OF THE MAXIM MOTOR COMPANY
The Maxim Motor Company was formed by Carlton Maxim in 1914. Carlton belonged to the Middleboro Fire Department. In 1912, the Middleboro Fire Department got a Knox fire truck. In 1914, they were looking for an added truck and Carlton, unimpressed with the Knox, felt he could construct a better fire engine. He was provided the chance and the new truck was delivered to the department. They were even more than satisfied and soon, word was out. Other departments understood Carlton Maxim's skill and resourcefulness and demands soon started being available in that he develop fire engine for their department.
Maxim expanded a number of times and up until 1989, were a popular fire apparatus producer in the northeastern United States. Maxim trucks could also be found on the west coast, the midwest and in many foreign nations. Their most popular product was their reliable aerial ladders. These ladders were so reputable, that other fire apparatus makers, used them on their chassis'.
Throughout the 1980's, Maxim discovered it hard to keep up with larger fire apparatus manufacturers. They stated bankruptcy numerous times and with several brand-new owners were able to get rid of these incredible barriers. The economy of the late 1980's brought Maxim to it's knees and it was compelled to close it's doors for excellent in 1989.
