This 1968 Conn 8D Elkhart double French horn was played by Richard Strauss who, at the time he sold it to me through my French horn instructor, was principal chair of the Cleveland Orchestra. It was very loved and taken care of through Richard and then myself. I have had it serviced regularly and all of the strings are brand new, the keys move, and the slides are greased and all move as expected. The quality of the sound is this French horn is simply unmatched to others that I have tried. The finish is beautiful and the bell is the vintage screw-bell and it does still come off of needed. The hard black case it currently resides in comes with the price.
