1967 Moto Guzzi V700
1967 Moto Guzzi V700
Dec 16, 2024
Description

Early 1967 Moto Guzzi V700 (engine #VA06AA, frame #1716). Refurbished in 2009, recent service. DB saddlebags included with mounting hardware, luggage rack, Teutonic "1,000 Mile" solo saddle, engine guards/leg shields, spare parts. 20k miles (not sure if original). Right-shift/reverse pattern (heel-toe shifter). Compression test = 170psi/180psi right. Cylinder bores seem to be Nikasil (slightly magnetic, dull grey). The bike was fitted with a NOS replacement fuel tank (from the late, great Marsh Motorcycles of Windsor, Connecticut) and the sheet metal painted in matching red and the frame in black. Recent service in 2022 included overhauling the twin VHB 29c Dell’Orto carburetors (not original to the bike), adjusting the valves, changing the oil, and replacing the oil pan gasket, oil pressure switch, front brake cable, twist-off dipstick, spark plugs, and valve cover gaskets. Additional equipment includes a luggage rack, solo saddle, stainless-steel hardware (mostly), chrome engine guards with black leg shields, and both side and center stands. The carbs were fitted with replacement velocity stacks and K&N air filters. The bike is equipped with an aftermarket battery tie-down. This V700 comes with original airbox, repair and service manuals, a pair of Dan Brown saddlebags (in fair condition) with mounting hardware, and spare parts. The bike does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It has a current Maine registration.  The engine number suggests this may be the earliest loop frame Guzzi on the road. I have had the bike since 2005, when I purchased it as a rolling non-runner barn find with an expired 1969 Vermont registration and no title or vehicle history. A Guzzi aficionado acquaintance did the restoration, which did not include engine work. My own inspection suggests that the cylinder bores are Nikasil replacements for the original chrome bores. Excellent compression on both cylinders. Hundreds of photos are available including of the restoration. The negatives -- the numbers on the speedometer face are starting to detach and collect at the bottom of the speedometer. The brakes are really not great, though I've replaced the front cable and adjusted them by the book and there's a lot of material left on the shoes. The tires have very little wear but are + ten years old. Finally, she's a little cold-blooded and takes a few tries to start, though runs beautifully when warmed up. Please note that the DB bags have not been restored or installed. The bike is amazing fun to ride, rock solid (part tractor/part freight train, as someone quipped about loop frame Guzzis).  I am selling because of age and illness. I have owned quite a few motorcycles, but am not an expert or collector. I'll do my best to respond to questions and will work on my end with the shipper of your choice.  On Sep-30-23 at 14:59:23 PDT, seller added the following information:I have some local interest in the bike and will end the listing early if I receive an acceptable offer. On Oct-06-23 at 18:03:03 PDT, seller added the following information:Forgot to mention that I had a machinist tap the intake manifolds for vacuum ports, which I installed earlier this year.On Oct-13-23 at 12:17:00 PDT, seller added the following information:I added a short video of the V700 at idle.
