Here's a unique take on the Custom Bug. This one was conceived at
Steve Stanford Designs and brought to life by legendary lead sled
guru Cecil Proffit. It began as a 1966 Volkswagen Beetle. As with
any proper hot rod, the first thing added was a bigger engine. A
dual port 1600cc air-cooled mill was tucked in behind the 4-speed
manual transmission with a cool custom drilled billet shifter.
Everything on the engine that could be chromed is chromed. A
fadeaway fender treatment and a chopped top are among the body mods
performed before the House of Kolor Candy Apple Red was laid on. A
beautiful pure white Carson top provides the appropriate finishing
touch. The white motif is carried inside and gives the Bug a
high-end custom feel. It has already caused a stir on the show
circuit including a Top Ten at Lead East in New Jersey. This 1966
Volkswagen Beetle is the perfect custom rod for turning heads at
the next cruise or show. Please be sure to see the detailed photos
