This matching-numbers 1966 Jaguar XKE Series I E-Type roadster is
powered by a rebuilt 4.2-liter inline-6 engine paired with the
4-speed manual transmission original to the car. Triple SU
carburetors breathe through foam-capped velocity stacks rather than
the factory air cleaner, while stainless headers and side-exit
pipes have replaced the original exhaust. The negative ground
electrical system features an alternator rather than the generator
equipped on earlier cars, and a Crane Cams electronic ignition has
also been fitted. Power-assisted disc brakes are inboard at the
rear and the car received a new booster, lines and stainless-lined
caliper pistons from White Post Restoration. A cosmetic and
mechanical refurbishment performed over the last 8 years has
included new paint, replica Dunlop Racing wheels, and a fresh
interior with new leather and rebuilt gauges. The car was restored
in 2018 and finished in black. This Classic Series 1 still has its
remaining chrome trim, including on the twin bullet sideview
mirrors. The car received a new windshield, and the black canvas
folding top fits. A boot for top-down storage is also provided
alongside a tonneau cover. The dash houses Series 1 toggle switches
and chrome hardware. It features a wood-rimmed aluminum steering
wheel, and a wooden shift knob has been fitted. Black-ringed
factory gauges were rebuilt by Nisonger Instruments. The heater box
has been removed due to disuse, as has the radio console. It
features black and silver under the hood, including most fasteners
and ancillary items. Just months ago, a complete restoration was
done to the interior and trunk, including a "period-correct" full
leather interior crafted by Ed "The Stitch Doctor" of Hi Class
Customs. The included Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate lists
original chassis #1E12155, body #4E3588, engine #7E7084-9 and
manual gearbox #EJ6266. ** PREVIEW
