This was a very clean 1966 Corsa to start. Body was taken down to bare metal and block-sanded clean. Note that the
front air inlet, which in many V8 conversions is little more than a hacked opening in the front of the car was done
by grafting the rear grille of a Corvair onto the lower fairing under the front bumper. Very neat job and looks
fantastic. The work is flawless. Also note the changes to the rear to accommodate the extra length of the small
block Chevy. Special water pump (shortened) to fit. ( Note I have made an extra water pump for any future use and
will include this with the sale) Note the pristine condition of the usual Corvair problem areas : door jams,
windshield cowl, door bottoms.
The enclosure for the radiator is bolted instead of welded so if it ever needs to be un-done it is a simple matter
to access. The radiator is fully shrouded and requires no additional air holes in the wheel wells. Additionally,
the cool-air functionality of the kick-panel vents is maintained.
This is unlike many V8 conversions where the radiator is left exposed in the trunk. Electric fan mounted in trunk
to keep radiator cool.
The engine is a Chevrolet small block 350 ( mid 70's ) running in reverse rotation. Mated to a stock Corvair
transaxle via a KELLMARK adapter. Stock starter. The input shaft is a new and recently installed from Clarks. The
engine is stock except for a new Edlebrock Performance Carb. and HEI ignition.
The car had a 1965 Corsa interior
installed ( I think it looks better and I like map pockets! )
Many, many improvements have been made to the car in the past 2 years. I will try to list as much as I can! In no
particular order.
Interior carpet replaced with new Clarks, underneath is sound and heat insulated. Custom LEATHER interior in stock
Corvair pattern kept.
Single width period rubber floor mat with stock Chevy logo! ( these are hard to find ) Seat extenders added for
extra legroom. Added custom gauges showing oil pressure, water temp, and volt meter. Speedo and tach and gas guage
work fine.
Replaced the parking brake.
Both bumpers rechromed. Halogen headlights installed. Installed dual
master cylinder for brakes. Changed out steering wheel to flawless wood sport wheel, best condition I have ever
found!
New headliner installed. All tail light lenses replaced. New door sills. Installed deck latch for engine
compartment, latch pulls from inside the car only. Sound mat and heat shield installed. Package tray and back of
fold down seat carpeted. Two stock Corvair turbo mufflers installed. Radiator overflow tank installed. New powder
coated front end installed, new springs.
New tires front 205/60R15 and 215/60R15 rear mounted on billet aluminum BOYD wheels! Very nice ride. Installed
ignition wires, distributor, and rotor for ignition system. New battery. All radiator pipes clear the ground with
no problems. Replaced clutch assembly, clutch cable and shifter bushings. Clutch has slight chatter in reverse and
first gears and may need to look at that.
Car has been wet sanded and looks fantastic. Wins awards at all the local car shows! Wheels are stunning! Pictures
tell all.
Recently flushed the radiator and now run distilled water with below 40 added. Installed new chrome oil pan, 8 new
spark plug boots, and changed oil and filter. By the way the stock heater box is intact so the defroster works,
however there is no plumbing for a heater.
Also the rear section under the rear bumper bolts on and off for easy engine access. License plate lights are LED
and are wired to tail lights.
The two bolts at the top of the license plate are LED lights in blue tint, very cool!
Over 25K invested in this car, everything has been done. It really shows!
Needless to say this is a very special one of a kind V8 Corvair Corsa. Always in a climate controlled garage and
maintained well.
I have all receipts for work performed, complete history book comes with the car.
