RPMSPC0055 is a tribute to the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupes that
wrested the FIA world sportscar championship away from Ferrari in
1965. Those cars were built when the Shelby Cobra roadster lacked
the high speed aerodynamics needed to win on European tracks.
Carroll Shelby commissioned Peter Brock to create a coupe body for
the car and the Daytona promptly began winning races.
This Superformance Daytona Coupe car is a modern update of the car
that won in 1965. Penned by original designers Peter Brock and Bob
Negstad, the car features a tough composite body with show quality
paint. The Daytona features a tubular space frame constructed of
mild steel, a fully independent suspension front and rear with coil
over progressive shocks and springs and a limited slip
differential. Four-wheel vented disc brakes with power assisted
calipers help stop the car while a power assisted rack and pinion
steering provides sharp handling.
This Superformance Daytona Coupe RPMSPC0055 is a brilliant red with
Wimbledon White stripes sports car. It rides on 18" Halibrand style
aluminum wheels. Side exit headers and side pipes deliver a throaty
roar.
Inside the Daytona Coupe, the black leather interior boasts air
conditioning system, Stewart Warner gauges, remote door locks and
an immobilizer system. The fastback has a wooden heritage steering
wheel along with black leather seats.
The car's small block Ford V8 produces over 525 horsepower; it is
connected to a smooth shifting Tremec 5 speed manual transmission.
The aluminum radiator with oil cooler use dual electric fans to
help keep the engine cool.
The suspension was upgraded with custom axles and driveshaft, along
with RideTech Fully Adjustable Coilover Gas Shocks. This 1965
daytona coupe tribute RPMSPC0055 is titled as 1965 Shelby in
California. With only 9,000 miles it is now available for
$169,950.
