Only selling due to moving to Australia*1961 AJS 16MS/Matchless G3 with 500cc barrel 119 miles on an AMCA Peter Pykett restorationThis motorcycle was restored by the famous motorcycle builder Peter Pykett in the late 1990s, sold at Sotheby's Chicago motorcycle auction in 2002, and resided in a large collection of Vincents, British bikes, race cars, Ferraris etc until my purchase in 2019. It has 119 miles on it. I have not started or run it since my purchase and have only had it on display. It will require full recomissioning such as tires, fluids, and general checks. Being restored by Peter Pykett I have no doubt it will easily run and is perfect mechanically. It has monster compression, shifts well, clutch works, rolls etc. Again, this is sold as nonrunning. I have never had gas in it and it has been in longterm storage. The bike started life as a 1961 Matchless G3 and the frame number is very close to the batch that were sent to the Dutch Army and is potentially one of those bikes. Peter then built the bike into an absolutely dreamy looking stylish British bike. The engine was upgraded to 500ccs (straight swap onto the bottom end for these). Due to storage over time there is mild surface corrosion on parts such as the oil tank cap, rear axle bolts, etc. The tires are cracked from storage and the rear loses air over time. I have letters of correspondence from ~2002 about Peter, printed photos of the bike, notes on the starting procedure after restoration, and notes on the bike from 2002 as well as photographs.
