The 00-28G was introduced by Martin in 1936. It was discontinued 1962 when Martin went toall “C” style for nylon strings. C. F. Martin Company fabricated at total of1530 model 00-28G classical guitars. The“G” indicates that this guitar was designed to be stung with gut or nylonstrings. This one was made in 1961, oneof 177 that were made that year. It hasBrazilian rosewood back and sides, the “holy grail” of guitar materials. (Martinswitched to Indian rosewood in 1969.) The neck is mahogany with ebony fingerboard. There are 12 frets to the body, 19 fretsoverall and the top has fan bracing. This guitar has a rich, warm tone that is perfect for classical music.
