1941 Chevrolet Special Deluxe VIN: AA354423 USMC Procurement Vehicle Presentation Complete Frame-Off, Nut and Bolt Restoration 235ci Engine with Fuel Injection 700R4 Automatic Transmission Air Conditioning, Power Steering & Cruise Control Original Gauges and Radio Built to Cruise and Enjoy! As long time military vehicle enthusiasts and local and national military vehicle club members, the owners of this car had acquired and restored numerous jeeps, MUTTS and other similar military vehicles. Seeking a military vehicle they could drive comfortably for long distances and to honor the annual Marine Corps Birthday, this 1941 Chevrolet was acquired in 2007, with a complete restoration completed in 2010 to this striking USMC presentation. A solid, 2 owner, Chevrolet Special Deluxe was located and found to be in excellent original condition. Being a California car, there was no rust present on the body and the vast majority of the body panels were straight! With an eye towards excellence, drivability and knowledge of WWII military procurement vehicles, the car was restored and upgraded! Body The body was removed from the frame and required work completed, which really just consisted of repairing/straightening the trunk latch assembly and trunk lid. The car retains all of its original metal with no patch panels or rust repair needed. All components were painted in the correct military color to include the bumpers, trim, hood ornament, wheels and hubcaps, door handles, grill everything except the glass (new front and rear), headlight and turn signal lenses and mirrors! USMC stenciling adds the finishing touch! Drivetrain The original 216 motor ws replaced with a 235 Straight 6 from a 1955. The performance of the engine is enhanced with Fuel injection and custom exhaust. The electrical system was updated to 12 volt and Air Conditioning was added. An aluminum radiator was custom built with fans installed for highway speed cooling. The engine is mated to a 700R4 automatic Transmission which connects to a Jeep Wagoneer rear-end. The result a great highway cruiser at a 72MPH
Sweetspot ! Interior The interior presents very well with all new upholstery, carpet, headliner, visors and door panels professionally installed during the restoration. Prior to installation of the interior, sound deadener was applied throughout providing added driving comfort. The gauges are original to the car as is the steering wheel and column and the dash chrome. The original radio was refurbished and works! The trunk presents exceptionally well with a period correct truck kit. This car was enjoyed and presented at local and regional car shows and military events. A trip to remember was from Idaho to Camp Pendleton, CA to take place in a Marine Corps Birthday Celebration! The Chevrolet was well received!
