A friend had this stove in his basement for numerous, several years. The product came to us in pieces, and was in really bad shape. We sandblasted each piece, and used heat resistant guide. The pieces were then repainted with a special heat resistant (as much as 2000 degrees semi glass black paint.) The separate parts were then assembled making use of high heat resistant caulking where essential.
This piece can be used for heating up a space or as a nice conversation piece. We really tracked down one of the guys, who used to put together these stoves at Brown Stove in Tennessee, and he told us of their insistence upon quality, and how old the item was. He liked discussing the piece. It is missing the 5 inch plate on the top.
