HARLEY DAVIDSON 1939 UL, UNRESTORED WITH VIRGINIA TITLE, FLATHEAD, KNUCKLEHEAD.
I got this 1939 UL out of a garage in Bristol, Tennessee in the mid 1990's.
IT IS NOT ORIGINAL PAINT.
It comes with a clear Virginia title that was issued in 1988.
I have had it stored for all these years and I do not know how long it was inthe garage before I found it.
It was partially disassembled when I bought it.
The motor was out of the frame with the top end off.
The lower end appeared to be new and we installed new pistons which are 80 over 74 bore.
The valves looked OK to run so we didn't do anything to them.
The transmission is 1939 only and looked fair inside.
It has the correct 1939, one year only, transmission and gas tank shift gate.
It has the correct, 3 bolt, M51 carburetor.
What I see in aftermarket parts is tail light, head light lens & reflector, cables, coil, tool box, floor boards, muffler, fender trim, license plate bracket, inner primary and kicker pedal.
It does have some correct aftermarket hardware.
It has a later closed seam Harley Davidson solo seat.
The outer primary is later, 1941 up, but it does have the 1940 and earlier clutch assembly.
The speedo is correct for 1939.
The 18" rims and spokes appear to be original, BUT it does not have step hubs.
The frame is 1939 and appears to be very nice.
