THIS HAS BEEN IN MY FAMILY FOR OVER 73 YEARS AND HAS A FAMOUS HISTORY. MY UNCLE WAS A PORTRAIT ARTIST IN HOLLYWOOD CALIFORNIA AND WAS COMMISSIONED TO DO THE PAINTING OF BETTY GRABLE AND HARRY JAMES DAUGHTER FOR HER 16TH BIRTHDAY IN THE LATE 1930'S.
INSTEAD OF BEING PAID MONEY FOR THE PORTRAIT, HE WANTED THIS CHAIR THAT WAS IN THEIR BEVERLY HILLS HOME AS HE WAS BORN IN RUSSIA AND THE CARVING WAS SPECTACULAR AND STILL IS. THE CONDITION IS EXCELLANT AND HAS VERY LITTLE WEAR. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE SEAT CUSHION IS THE ORIGINAL HORSEHAIR STUFFING. ESTATE VALUE WAS $25,000 IN 1999. PLEASE CONTACT ME TO MAKE ME AN OFFER AS THERE IS NO ONE LEFT IN MY FAMILY TO APPRECIATE SUCH A TREASURE. LEAVE PHONE MESSAGE PLEASE IF IT GOES TO VOICEMAIL.
