The new financial requirement, raising the minimum annual income for sponsoring partners from £18,600 to £29,000, affects anyone hoping to apply under these categories. Additionally, sponsors just exceeding £29,000 intending to bring dependent children will find themselves caught under the new threshold. The current rule requiring £18,600 for partners plus child-specific increments (£3,800 for the first child and £2,400 for each subsequent child) will no longer apply once the new regulations come into effect.
