World Class Aerospace and Defence Organisation based in Filton, Bristol is currently looking to recruit a Test Support Engineer subcontractor on an initial 6 month contract.

This position is a Structural role working on the shop floor, hands on role. The role is suited to Someone who can work outside of processes and test rig assembly from drawings. Carrying out maintenance on rigs. Structural steel work engineering and machine operating. Use of crane, forklift, scissor lift experience desired

Hourly Rate: GBP25.00 (Umbrella)

Contract Duration: 6 Months initially and then ongoing thereafter

Test Support Engineer Job Description:

An exciting opportunity for a Test Support Engineer has arisen in Filton. You will work with the

structures test centre based in the Aerospace Integrated Research and Test Centre (AIRTeC).

The Structures Test Centre UK is part of the Material Processes and Test domain. The Structures Test

Centre UK is one of three centres that perform or manage the full pyramid of static and fatigue

structures tests on all Aircraft Programmes and R&T including exciting new projects on digital

hybrid testing and Zero Emissions aircraft.

The Structures Test Centre UK is based in AIRTeC; a GBP100 million state of the art facility designed

specifically to provide the most advanced collaborative working environment and tools for,

suppliers, partners, and academia. Co-funded by and the UK Government via the Aerospace

Technology Institute, the facility is unique to Europe. AIRTeC complements the world leading design,

integration, manufacturing and assembly capabilities which already exist in Filton; specialised in wing,

landing gear and fuel systems.

The Job holder puts together all constituent elements of the Test Setup (specimen, rig, loading

devices, and Data Acquisition); is proficient in the operation of workshop equipment (inc. Lathes,

Milling Machines, Pillar Drills etc), including ability to perform welding in various materials and ensure

efficient test performance.

Assembles test rigs and fixtures and subsequently install's specimens in the test rig.Carries out repairs to specimens, modification to rigs and rig structures.Supports planned and reactive maintenance of plant and test equipment;Reviews and records all details of the test to ensure full traceability of the test data.Monitors the test to ensure integrity of the test fixture/rig and specimen.Secures adherence to the Structures Test Process and implements all suitable trans-national processes, methods and tools;Identifies the hazards of the testing task, assesses the risk and formally records the assessment in RAMP.Operates efficiently the Goods-in/out, Transit Store and the Archive/Quarantine store As the successful candidate, you must be able to demonstrate some or all of the following:

Educated to a minimum of ONC/HNC or demonstrate practical proficiency from a recognised training/development programme such as City and Guilds, Engineering Industrial Training Board, a company apprenticeship etcPractical knowledge and skills to operate workshop equipment (lathe, miller, pillar drill etc) and perform manual fitting tasks. The ability to work from technical drawings and problem solve.Knowledge of basic building blocks of a structural loading system including load cells, hydraulic actuators, fixation points etc. Understand the function, safe handling requirements, maintenance and assembly.Experience in the use of aluminium, steel, titanium alloys and composite materials.Autonomous, Creative, Lean. Possess a sound understanding and knowledge of the type of work within an Aerospace environment.

Candidates must display a self-motivated and proactive approach, excellent communication skills both written and verbal (in English) and have the ability to work as part of the team.Applicants will be expected to support the Business needs by use of multi-skilling, multi-tasking and work extended hours when required to support priority tests. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

In the frame of test leading: ? Project manage & Deliver structural tests from level 6 to level 2 of the Test Pyramid and other business critical projects. Define tests in adherence to the Structures Test Process and in respect of all suitable transnational processes, methods and tools.

? Integrate the 1ACMT transnational skills to deliver tests on time, cost and quality.

? Ensure the communication and the reporting to the test customer.

In the frame of the test means engineering: ? Concepts designed on time, cost & quality

? Prepare a pre-design (3D study) for specification release.

? Provide detailed designs and data transfer for manufacturing.

? Ensure a configuration management of drawings and 3D data.

? Provide specimen interface drawings.

? Ensure test means interfaces are compliant with specimen loading areas.

? Support acceptance of test means after manufacturing

? Provide expertise during the assembly of the test means in the laboratory.

Coordinate all internal and external contributors/stakeholders/suppliers.Launch subcontracting activities following policy, managing purchasing and goods receipt.Anticipate, identify and manage risks & opportunities.Ensure regular reporting to other colleagues and teams in the test centre.Participate in the Test Centre SQCDP and weekly team meetings.integrate, develop and introduce new lean policies, methods and ways-of-working aligned with the transnational business requirements and strategy of IACMT.Support the development of training methodology and material
