An exciting position has arisen for a Technical Manager to join a family owned, 20-year established business who manufactures, imports, and supplies quality home lighting products. They serve some of the largest UK retailers and their product range includes fabric shades, floor lamps, table lamps and ceiling fittings. You will be based at their Rutland office (4 days per week, 1 day from home) which is commutable from Leicester, Oakham, Grantham, Stamford, Melton Mowbray, and Nottingham and will report to the Joint Managing Director, taking responsibility for technical compliance and legislative aspects of the business. As a Technical Manager your responsibilities will include: Having full product involvement from development through to after sales careHandling customer enquiries relating to product specifications and liaise with the warehouse QC team.Determining product packaging and shipping requirementsCommunicating day to day with overseas suppliers via email and phone. Ensuring suppliers stay on track with new product technical aspects on timelinesDetermining product specification and material requirements of new products with the development departmentTaking responsibility for ensuring that products are compliant with all relevant UK legislation and directivesAssisting product launch timeline, ensuring key deliverables, such as instructions, labels and box artwork are completed on timeChecking instruction leaflets and packaging contain correct and accurate informationFactory audits (ethical and technical) and certificationOccasional factory visits in Far East We are looking for a Technical Manager who has the following skills and experiences: Previous experience within the retail technical sector, preferably lighting, electrical or furnitureRelevant knowledge and understanding of UK standardsStrong collaborative skills and a confident and capable communicatorWorks well under pressure with strong planning, prioritisation, and time management skillsPossesses a keen eye for detail, working to the highest standards This is a minimum 4-day hybrid-based position. Hours of work Monday to Friday, and either 9.00am to 5.00pm or 8.30am to 4.30pm, with a half hour lunch. Although not a predominantly customer facing role, some working out of hours and UK travel will be required when visiting factories, attending shows or customer meetings.
