History of the Service:
Barnardo's have held the contract for The Lancashire Young Carers Service since 2011 we are commissioned by Lancashire County Council in partnership with NHS East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group, we were recently awarded the new contract from April 2022 Service
Service Aim:
To support, empower and equip young carers by ensuring they are recognised as a young carer, supported to have a life outside caring, improve mental health and wellbeing and ensure children and young people are protected from harmful caring roles and are thriving
Objectives of Service: To work with Young Carers across Lancashire To identify and assess all Young Carers in Lancashire To work with the whole family to reduce the impact of caring To provide one to one and group work support based on identified needs To reduce the impact of the Young Carer's caring role To raise awareness of the role of Young Carers Multi agency working to support our young carers Specific Responsibilities: To support, supervise and manage the project workers to work with Young Carers and their families using a range of interventions for the benefit of reducing the impact of their caring role Raising awareness of the Young Carers Service and developing referral pathways across Lancashire To be a champion of and advocate for the voice of the young people, building child-centred and trauma informed practice into the heart of everything we do. To model good care practice to the wider team. Provide robust management and leadership to a staff team Actively deliver timely supervision, monitoring the quality of work, both hands on and record keeping, to ensure staff are working to high levels of performance and within the best interests of the young people Liaise and work alongside our commissioners at LCC, reporting to them on a quarterly basis against the contract requirements Work in partnerships to deliver better outcomes for Young Carers Deliver presentations and workshops to agencies and organisations across the county When completing your application please refer to your skills, knowledge and experience in relation to the person specification, job description and additional information, this should be done with and understanding of the context of the service described.
The successful candidate will be required to participate in the out of hours "On Call Rota" which covers 365 days per year. Covering services across to deal with a staffing shortage, safeguarding or emergency situation.

Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band - this ensures that pay progression steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours.
